Japrazz
Japrazz Bio:

For little more than year now fresh new sounds have been making people happy in clubs around Switzerland. The seven man combo that is Japrazz consists of 5 live musicians, DJ and MC, and within a short period of time they have found their own, unmistakably dynamic style: Playful, propulsive but always walking that fine line that marks authenticity. Driven by this, MC Phyl the Ill Lyricist enthralls audiences with his vivacious, storytelling groove and marks the spot by his sheer presence on stage. The musicians look up to Jazz Legends such as John Coltrane and Thelonious Monk in the same way they respect Rap Giants Blackalicious and a Tribe called Quest, and all this together is united in a fulminant performance on stage that will leave you gasping for breath.

Biographie
While MC Pablo Vögtli was enjoying a five month stay in Paris in spring of 2005, his longtime partner in music and friend Timo Keller recruited musicians for a live rap-jazz combo. The name Japrazz had existed in their heads for some time allready, and Jazzers is what they undoubtedly were after. Three of them were found at the Lucerne School of Jazz; double-bass, trumpet and drums. The guitar (Niko Zellweger) was handpicked out of the fusion jazz group BlizzRythmia, and DJ TT Twister aka Marco Stoffel just recently found his way to the group. He brings many years of live dj-ing experience with him, practising both turbtableism and part dj.ing. Together with producer and key-man T.moe, who has played instruments since before he could think, has enjoyed classical education (clarinet) and otherwise pretty much taught himself everyting he knows, the seven guys make up a solid foundation for sophisticated, direct live music.
The energy of seven men on stage is directly contrasted with conventional Rap crews that perform with just DJ / MC. Solos brimful of soul balance out straight, ruff raps, MC Phyl has the optical aspect of Rap covered and finds himself nicely accentuated by the classic vintage instruments and their equally smooth operators. The mixture of organic jazz sounds and innovative raps result in a spectacularily gripping finaly product, and we call it Japrazz..
