Jiggy Bio:
Jiggy, headed by Sarah (vocals) and Nuria (keys & backing vocals), was founded in 2004 in Barcelona. Since mid 2008, Toni (guitar), Arnau (bass) and Joseba (drums) are also members of the band. Their songs have both a melodic and powerful sound, based on pop-rock and containing a groovy touch of R&B, which give the band a peculiar and attractive style. Jiggy has won two second prizes at two different competitions: Rubifest 06 (Barcelona) and TheMusicDirectory 06 (UK), and has been semifinalist at the local competition Vicsona 08 (Vic) and at the international contest Emergenza 07. The band has performed in several places around Barcelona and Tarragona, including Youth Festivals and the Theme Park Port Aventura, and in Madrid. Jiggy has a wide range of influences: black music (Destinys Child, NERD, Boyz II men, Aretha Franklin), 80s rock (Queen, U2), Spanish and international pop-rock (Hanson, Kelly Clarkson, No Doubt, Amaral), and even metal, nu-metal and progressive rock (Linkin Park, Evanescence, Metallica, Meshuggah, Kyuss). |
