The Superkings Bio: The Superkings A four piece Indie/Rock band from Burnley, Lancashire, formed in 1996, regrouped in 2005. Sean Benet: lead guitar, lyricist, composer, vocals Mark Benet: bass guitar, vocals Wesley Benet: vocals, rhythm guitar Chris Taylor-Hilton: drums The Superkings have an original sound (a composite of Indie and Rock) made unique by Sean's amazing lead guitar solo breaks. Their influences are a mixture of contemporary artists such as Oasis, The Stone Roses, The Manics etc as well as long-established rock bands such as Led Zeppelin,Bonjovi, Arrowsmith & Pink Floyd. In addition, the band is such that as well as producing belting Indie/Rock tunes, they can also turn their musical talents to creating Indie ballads, with a haunting undertone. The band synchronise together extremely effectively. Mark, the wit and lyric collaborator, is an accomplished bass player who also harmonises well with Sean and Wes for backing vocals; he can also lend his vocal talents to some leads (he does an amazing Foxy Lady!) whilst Sean does his Hendrix stuff on lead guitar. Wesley is the lead singer, his voice is not unlike Liam Gallagher's. He is accomplished on rhythm guitar and is renowned for his love of playing feedback, Wes also contributes to the writing dept. Chris, the baby of the band, is a very talented drummer. Though in his trademark trilby he resembles a young Pete Doherty, he is level-headed and very professional. |
