History of Exit72 posted: 13 Feb 2006 02:51 PM
In the winter of 2001, high school friends Jason Joyce and David Carroll began hanging out at the practice space of a band called Deadbolt. They would stay through their entire practice, so that they could use their equipment afterwards. They then began trying to convince another friend, Ashley Parker, to come and play bass with them. Once he agreed they began going by the name of Crimson before eventually changing to Exit 72. Over a period of four years they dabbled in a variety of musical genres, from heavy rock to blues, and played with 7-8 vocalists. For an entire year they played as an instrumental band while auditioning 20-30 vocalists. In the late spring of 2005 they auditioned a singer by the name of Jamie Hurt, and immediately found a musical connection. Hurt had played in two bands prior to auditioning for Exit 72. The foursome began blending Hurts original songs with Exit 72s current set list as well as writing new material. This Raleigh based rock band is driven by a pure addiction to music and the determination to bring their songs to the world. Exit 72 fuses together ground shaking rhythms with passionate lyrics. The band puts an emphasis on creating a dynamic in their music, with melodic verses and crashing choruses. In the end, their goal is to have their listeners feel every ounce of emotion that was poured into the writing of each song. The band recently completed their first studio sessions and is working hard to put out an EP in the upcoming months. Until then they look forward to captivating audiences everywhere with an explosive, passionate delivery of the music they love.
