Furnace Bio:
Ironically, band was formed in spring 2004 by Eero Laupiainen, former bass player, who wanted to create a band that plays some kind of progressive heavy metal. In the early days band name was Epileptika, and the original members were Sami(lead guitar/vocals), Petri(guitar), Niko(guitar) and Eero(bass). Soon after, Kim joined the band as a drummer.
Later, the artistic differences between Eero and the rest of the band started to grow much too big, which caused that Eero falled out from the circle. The band was hibernating for several months and in the meanwhile, Sami and Petri created black metal music and kickstarted the band again but Eero continued with the progressive and blues music.
During the break, Niko revealed his interests in singing which was ok to Sami who wanted to concentrate to lead guitar. After the break, band was nothing like before. The black metal influences played a great part in the group. Only the new songs were in the playlist and the early-days creations were totally abandoned.
So The logical progression was the search for a new bassplayer. The bassplayer who Kimi knew from a local band, Devastating Supremacy, was interested in joining. So Henri joined the band.
After that, lot happened in a very short period of time. For example, the band was named Furnace, and got some playing time from a studio in Turku. Baptism by fire was experienced in 21st of December 2005 by the first gig in Järvenpää. |
