Dirty Perfect Bio:
DIRTY PERFECT A band of four hailing from Cardiff by way of New Zealand, Australia, Wyoming and, well, Cardiff, Dirty Perfect have rock, pop and hooks, very much like an art-rock Rice Krispies. They bring you to a happy but slightly disturbing place somewhere between pavement / nirvana / the strokes / mclusky, where they assault your ears with volume and your mind with choruses. Dirty Perfect leave you with a grin, the urge to sing to yourself in public and a desire to jump about. Live exposure results in additional tinnitus and heavy sweating. Basically, its a sensory overload like a chocolate pizza. ~ 23 year old Rich Frennaux dreamt up and put together Dirty Perfect. He plays guitar and writes the songs. This is his first band. He is therefore obviously a smart-arse and just showing off. Rich was born in London, moved to the village of Timaru in New Zealand, then on to Brisbane, Australia. From there he went to Cardiff, which seems inexplicable! The result of all this is a very distinctive vocal sound which, weirdly enough, sounds very English. ~ Kip Armstrong was recruited by Rich as (realistically) they were separated at birth (although Kip is 4 years older - and has different hair) -When he isnt going missing he too, plays guitar and writes the songs in Dirty Perfect. Kip suffers from narcolepsy and, ironically, insomnia. Narcolepsy brought the band together after an incident in a Spar and insomnia resulted in an all-night session that produced Scheme Eugene. Sans afflictions Kip would have been doing a Kerouac across the US, so its all worked out. ~ James Griffiths is the man behind the kit. He is 23 and this is the first band he will admit to having been in. He hasnt really had time to be in a band before as he was too busy running a strip club. This is actually the truth. James looks like Alex Kidd (with better hair) - the kinda kid you would push around at school, in the hope to get his dinner money - but he can in fact splinter bones and with a handshake. Basically he is some sort of Super Geek. ~ Shawn Day is the man on bass. He spent 25 years looking to put his music talents and love for the Pixies into a 4-piece band - and then _ he replied to an advert to join a Cardiff based band from his home in Wyoming (yes, the emptiest State in the US) and even after being immediately deported from the UK after he flew over for his audition, his resolve did not weaken. This was so ridiculously amazing, coupled with the fact he played bass like a jedi - He got the job and completed the line-up Dirty Perfect started life in August 2004 and everybody immediately fell about in awe. They rapidly picked up a manager, an agent, a US agent, record company interest, publishing company interest, DJ support, a load of big name producers offering to do some free recordings in exchange for their souls and also some fans. Because things were going too easily the band then spent three months going through 6 bass players. This stalling is now complete and there will be gigs, breakdowns, fights and rehab in the near future. Well, gigs anyway. ~
