Excerpt taken from full bio:
Stealing from Alexander has toured primarily in Western Canada. Studious,
deep, and sometimes cynical, the lyrics are spurred by truths of life and religion.
Songs reflect life and initative; however, fans suggest that the lyrics really are
just relatible to problems people encounter in everyday experience. Having
toured Western Canada for sometime, Stealing from Alexander have finally
made the move to Vancouver. Eli Ritz, frontman, creator, and writer, has moved
the project into a solo effort and is awaiting signing to release a full CD.
Although some attention from different streams of A and R have approached
the band in earlier times, most have not been equipped to deal and promote
with a solo artisit. For this reason online songs have been the number one
promotion for the project. Having signed a partnership with Big Story Arts Inc.,
Stealing is now placing sites on building a far greater fan base from Vancouver.
Though, progress is often slow, a wealth of experience in the bar circuit and a
commited fan-base in Edmonton have helped keep SFA a brand name in
Alberta. Vancouver is the next expansion. Big Story is currently working on
various options to put out a full length EP. The problem is as simple as finance.
In a saturated market, one band must struggle to dileniate from the others.
Progress is slow but rewarding. SFA has changed names twice, refuted A and
R offers, and changed members a couple of times to boot. The main solice is
that of Eli Ritz who fails to give into what appears to be a ten year battle just to
get noticed. Local newspapers, and various PR publications have done little
more then promote the band on a local scene: something that may be
admirable, but far from the reaching dreams of what SFA could be. As the
labour continues so does the fan base. Plowing through the bar circuit of
Vancouver is much like the process in Alberta which is much like anywhere in
the world: one does it because they love it. Eli Ritz states:
Getting signed has never been the focus. Music transcends money,
marketability, and even popularity.
