The members of Jessie Rae first met when they earned their living as traveling forest workers. No matter where they went, they would pack their guitars and find a way to play music together. They'd just pitch a tent, plug the guitars into a pig-nose amp and start jamming. Joan Meyer and Lauren Semler have found ways to play together ever since.
During the 80s, Joan performed with the all-women band TranSister and later with Shards of Lace, Lonesome Taxi & Oversol. Lauren performed R&B, blues and rock with Shakabuku, The Sounders and The View. Years later, Lauren joined with members of Shards of Lace kicking out high-energy tunes in genres ranging from funk to country. It was in Shards of Lace that they met guitarist Jim Bronson. The combination of Jim's tasty guitar licks and Lauren's slide guitar sounds are a perfect fit.
Today, they continue to find ways to play music together. With drummer Kipp Crawford, who provides the essential funky swagger, Matt Burnett on keyboards, and percussion & backup vocals by Wendy Owens, Joan Meyer’s new release is complete. “Out of the Blue” is the culmination of these talented individuals under Meyer’s creative leadership and songwriting.
