nina walsh Bio: Nina Walsh Nina Walsh is a singer songwriter from South London. She grew up in the leafy suburb of Surrey where from the age of twelve she studied Spanish classical guitar and began writing & performing her own compositions. At just sixteen years old Nina's life began to change when she was swept away into London's club culture and moved away from the suburbs to live in Battersea. Forming her own electronic dance record label Sabrettes she set up office in Soho and spent most of her time promoting and scouting new talent. During this period Nina formed the band Slab whose records were released through Sme in America and Hydrogen Dukebox in the UK. Slab was largely electronic and sample based and after three years of touring, writing and recording I decided that I needed an outlet for my songs so I gave up the label, picked up the acoustic guitar again and started writing. Nina still has a keen interest in electronics, engineering and producing most of her own work. She has also recorded demos with producer Youth, collaborated with Andrew Weatheralls Two Lone Swordsmen and The Orbs Alex Paterson among others. Ninas songs are simple, beautiful and honest. She sings in a way that is reminiscent of Marianne Faithful yet has her feet placed firmly in the 21st century. |
