Lake Effect R.F. Tomorowitz The waves move out and the waves move in The cycle starts all over again It doesn’t matter where they’ve been They must keep moving out and in Seagulls play amid the spray Gliding and diving between shades of blue Soaring effortlessly through the day Unaware of what earthbound creatures do Sometimes she moves like a river Sometimes she moves like a stream Sometimes she moves like an ocean Sometimes she’s moving like a woman in a… dream Sailboats bob with their driftwood brothers Moving in rhythm like so many others Foam-topped horizons call them over the rim And the waves keep moving out and in She stands on a cliff with her hair blowing free Smelling the air filtered casually From the length and width of this inland sea Soothing her thoughts with its silent reverie CH. Activity on the beach below Causes reflection on a day moving slow Footprints fill to be replaced again Giving proof of futility of man Still she stands on the edge of time Using all around her to bring peace of mind Reach with her soul, touch with her eyes The coming celebration of a morning sunrise CH. |
