Rachel Merchand Bio:
Dawning from the Green Mountains of Vermont, Rachel Merchand brings an unexpected sound to the acoustic rock genre. Reaching from sentimental love to hidden struggles, she expresses her core character through unashamed and transparent lyrics.
Rachel began singing at age 13, but didn't complete her first song until 21. "I was trying so hard to incorporate tons of chords and write something poetic - I really didn't even know how to play the guitar... I gave up and that is when I wrote Humble."
Before too long, more songs were composed and in April of 2003, Rachel independently released her debut EP, A New Version of Me, currently being aired on radio stations around the US, web radio world wide and featured on the television show, Steelroots.
Many compare her voice to the sounds of Sarah McLachlan, yet even with simplistic song structures, she strikes deep into your heart. On stage, there is a unique synchronization of her voice and the guitar strings, bringing you into her own world. |
