Second Generation

Second Generation Bio:

The majority of our members have been involved with or marched within drum corps units both from the UK and the US, with large proportion of these players living around the south of England and especially within the Surrey and Sussex areas.

Second Generation has recognised that a lot of these people who no longer march or no longer have any vested interest within drum corps, are also not involved in any activity or group which encourages these people to carry on their great playing talents and skills.

The average age of the group is 28 with currently 15 members making up brass, vocals and percussion sections, and each person having at least 12-15 years musical experience.

Our Style - Although Second Generation markets itself as a Jazz ensemble, don't be fooled into thinking that we only play heavy big band jazz music.

In order for us to reach a wider and more public market, Second Generation plays a mixture of jazz and contemporary music all within a jazz or swing style.

In this way we hope not only to satisfy those die hard jazz fans, but to also bring the style to those who have never taken time to listen to jazz via recognisable music scores.

Formed back in November 2002, the group has continued to grow both in style and ability, with the group already making a big impact into the local community of Horsham, West Sussex.
