" Live performance is what drives me, a song played with the proper passion and conviction to an appreciative audience creates a moment in time for me, I continually want to relive". Music has always been my passion and I try to communicate that passion through my songs. I write songs about us the common people ....... the trials and tribulations we all deal with in everyday life! Growing up in Scotland, where music is such a big part of the culture, planted the seeds early. I think everybody in my family fancied themselves something of a singer. My mom, granny, sister, uncles, aunts and cousins and all of them "quite" good. My early years were shaped by the popular television show "Top of the Pops" watching the likes of Sweet, David Essex and Gary Glitter strutting their stuff, gave me the performance itch. A staple of British Rock Icons ruled the household when it came time to spin an album. The Beatles, David Bowie, The Who, T-Rex and Pink Floyd shaped my early listening experience. After immigrating to Canada, I played in numerous rock bands, but realizing keeping a band together was more of a job than trying to create music, I got frustrated and stopped playing for quite sometime. However, the acquisition an acoustic guitar gave me the independence I needed, although at the time I wasn't much of guitar player. I set myself the goal of playing as a solo act. As we all know nothing comes easy, but with perseverance I started playing at local pubs and although I thought I was "crap" people enjoyed it. And that's what it's really all about isn't it. Things have come full circle for me know as I have returned to the U.K. to persue my ambition and love for music. So as I sit writing this bio listening to the music that I love, I offer you my music, it's quite a personal thing really....I hope you enjoy! Cheers...Callum. |
