Taj Bio:
Who is Taj? Taj is the next big teen sensation. Taj looks up to many artists such as Mariah Carey, Chris Brown, Beyonce, Whitney Houston, Tevin Campbell, and many other artists. Not only is Taj wowing the crowds with his vocals, but he also has other talents such as dancing and acting. Taj is a part of the Bartlett Dance team and has been dancing since the 5th grade but is now beginning to take it more serious because he realizes that it can benefit his singing a lot. Taj also is being taught to play the piano By Beverly Cashin. He has been with her since the 7th grade. Taj was born January,21st, 1995 in Norfolk, VA to Jeanette Showalter and Lydon McEwen. At the age of one Taj and his mother moved to Anchorage, AK to live with his aunt, Pamela Palmer. When Taj was two his mother found Deanna Hardison who became Taj’s babysitter. Taj Later came to know her as grandmah. Taj began singing at the age of three in his church choir In Anchorage, AK with his grandmother Deanna Hardison till the age of eight. Then in the third grade he began singing in his schools choir and has been in his schools choir since then on. Also in the third grade Taj did the Gov’t Hill Elementary School talent show for the first time where he was discovered by Jill Bess, the managing artistic director of Alaska Broadway kids, the Alaska spin of The Broadway kids. He auditioned for the summer camp and also the whole season program. After making both auditions he did the summer camp and chose not proceed to the whole season program. After the fourth grade Taj moved to Muldoon Elementary where he continued with the schools Choir. In the fifth grade Taj auditioned for the A.S.D Honor Choir making it with flying colors, being told that he had the best audition that season. In the fifth grade Taj also Enrolled in the Music Machine coordinated by Janet Carr. In the sixth grade he began training vocally with Big Mitch Tubman, a well known singer in Alaska and various other locations around the U.S. When Taj moved on to middle school he continued to sing in his schools choir. In the seventh grade Taj was picked to sing with "Ball in the house" An A capella singing group that went to Anchorage for a show. In the eighth grade Taj sang with the M.L.K choir in celebration of Martin Luther King jr. During this performance Taj had a solo singing Wind beneath my wings By Bette Midler, and a photographer from the A.D.N happened to be there and had taken a picture of him that made the front page of the Anchorage Daily News January 19,2009. In the summer of 2009 Taj heard of a competition held by Talent Gps, that took place in August of 2009. Taj entered the competition for singing and acting. Taj won both categories and won those overall winner award in the competition, winning a trip to California, free studio time, and free headshots. When Taj went to California he met with 2 agencies and a management company for his acting, had a photo shoot in the O.C, and recorded a cover song. Right before going to California, Taj auditioned for Alaska owned Old School Productions Management’s first annual Alaska Talent Search that had numerous elimination rounds. Taj fortunately made it in the finale and took first place with a performance that had the whole crowd, men and women in tears singing, A song for you By Donny Hathaway. He has been writing and working on a demo CD ever since then. Taj is planning on taking the world by storm with his phenomenal dancing, singing, and acting skills. He plans on being some one that young, and old individuals look up to.
