L.O.C Bio: Who I Am I began igniting ball point pens directly after having seen the movie Krush Groove. The movie in it's entirety was a life guiding inspiration fa ril. I grew up in the streets of Julian D Steele projects - aka Shaughnessy. The song "Home Sweet Home" is a dedication to Shaughnessy. I mean, every line, every word, every metaphor - is Shaughnessy. I don't think DaVinci could have painted a more clear/concise picture. The next time you listen to "Home Sweet Home", close your eyes - it's exactly how I described it. Raw, comforting, disturbing, troubled, blessed, all dat man.. The Hood - the PJ's at it's worst and finest. Wifey to this day says that's the tightest **** I got. She can see it just as I wrote it. Same with "Blue Collar Baller". From the Nissan Sentra to wearing the same **** 2 and 3 days in row. Love it or hate it - it's who I am. To Lead I took what I learned in the streets and applied it to everyday living dog. I tried not to fall into the same traps some of my boys were falling into. Leaders don't follow - they lead - that's my mantra. Has been - always will be. Although, I was almost a spittin image of what I didn't want to be more than a few times in my life. Dealing, hanging in the alley all times of the day/night - that'll git you there quick. You gotta know though - not only was some illegal **** goin on in the alley, but it was the central gathering point for the hood's finest. Bangers, hustlers, all dem congregated in the alley. So did 5.0. They'd come thru the spot so often niggas knew their shift - by officer. That was how the block stayed a gold mine - you can be ghost when you know they coming. On the flip, niggas knew the occasional raid would pop-off, so you had to keep your eye's peeled. But you know the alley was filled to the gills regardless. An Event This album is me to a T. Period. Alot of mc's will tell you they have the hottest **** out there, or they do things different - when in fact, they sound just like the industry standard. Same format, same style, same goals. So whack. Be who you are man - fail that way. Don't fail at being somebody else. I don't try to be different - I just am. That's some ril ****. That's good and bad though. Good cause I know Hip-Hop is not just one sound and the true fans of the genre will recognize and praise my ****. But bad because going against the grain is harder today than it was a decade ago. But on the ril, you gotta make it an event to hear my ****. The day you get my cd, don't listen to the radio, don't play no other **** for the whole day. Get ya fam together and whip around the city bangin it. I gaurantee it's nothin you ever heard before in yo life. The sound is different - the flow is different. This aint Hip-Hop. This aint Rap. This is something else. |
