Weeping Twilight Bio:
WEEPING TWILIGHT is Belarussian folk metal band founded in 1997 by Aliaksands Hliakau and Dzianis Holin. From the very beginning the band decided to combine Belarusian folklore musical traditions (varying from the middle-ages till nowadays) with the energy of true metal. Thus Belarusian language, still considered as a dying one, was chosen for the lyrics.
While making some experiments in this field WEEPING TWILIGHT (initially, TWILIGHT) released a self-titled demo in 2001. It was not spread widely but helped the band to attract attention from folk metal adorers. After some line-up changes - from that period Vitaly Abramovich held the position of lead guitarist and Mikhail Vasilkou became the drummer of the band, - the local success had been nailed down in 2002 with “Voddal ad Tvaru Bagou” (“Far from the Assembly of Gods”) EP release. In contrast to the crowds of hackneyed folkish metal bands appeared at that time WEEPING TWILIGHT had chosen its own way not just mixing folk melodies with metal riffs but “forcing” metal to sound like folk.
Throughout its history WEEPING TWILIGHT have been taking part in many festivals in Belarus and abroad, supporting such well-known bands as EXHUMATOR, GODS TOWER, ASGUARD, GRENOUER, SKYFORGER, ARKONA etc.
