Lunar Rising Bio:
Lunar Rising was created in the autumn of 2007 from the ashes of Finding Luna when guitarist Jay Harris got in touch with singer Dominique Allan to write atmospheric and evocative songs that captured the more contemplative side of life. However, it soon became clear that just a guitar and a voice would not be enough to convey the atmosphere that Jay and Dom craved.
Matt became the next stable member of the band that following summer and took part in testing two old songs with some new creations at a few small open mic crowds around London. His laid-back approach and open mind fitted perfectly with the band’s ethos and his delicately intricate bass-lines added much to the band’s dynamism and intrigue.
Next was Mark who replaced a string of non-committal pianists. His lusciously melancholic melodies and depth of sound became yet another missing piece to the band’s jigsaw.
Then there was Karen, who had an interest in the band from all the way down in Cornwall. After a few auditions with drummers that ‘just played too much’ Karen subtly added emphasis when the song called for it, being a large factor in those all-important ascendos.
Alex became the last member of the Lunar Rising family not long after. Her dramatic and emotive violin playing replaced the short stint of another violinst, whom the band parted ways with after the open mic outtings. Alex's ability to add suble statements to each song perfectly complimenting the band's sound meant that almost a year from it's initial inception, Lunar Rising was finally born:
