Zak Rau Bio:
I am from the midwest american state of Wisconsin. Wisconsin is known as "America’s Dairyland", and is one of america’s "great lake states", as it is bordered by Lake Superior and Lake Michigan. the state of Wisconsin is a place of gently rolling hills, northern forests, glacial lakes and lots of nice people.
I was born in Wausau. Wausau is a small city in north-central Wisconsin. I now live in Milwaukee. Milwaukee is a big city in south-eastern Wisconsin.
I write songs. I also records songs and perform them at various locations. I like to make music. The music i make is a folk music for the post industrial revaluation machine and digital years, w/ undertones of boreal latitudes, cool breeze across rolling, rural wisconsin fields and electrical currencies. There are also probobly little glimses of urban things like reinforced concrete structures, traffic and a more or less sustained yellowish glow. after all it is these things that surround me most of the time and they are things that are beautiful and intriguing. Water, moving water in particular, seems to find its way into my songs too. and for that i am glad. As do various shades of gray and blue and white. I like to look at buildings and water and streets from different angles. I like to page through encyclopedias.
I am very fascinated w/ the Arctic Ocean...the Arctic in general. I like to imagine being on a train in the utter, utter north - probobly at night. the subtle variations of the worlds many rural sectors is inspiring and fun to contemplate. The concept of Hyperborea makes sense to me.
I have recently started a band w/ a close friend of mine named Alisa. We are called: Scout & Lass. Alisa plays the drums and other hitable items and i sing and play the guitar mostly, but other things sometimes. We have a myspace page also. it is: www.myspace.com/scoutandlass
