DL Diedrich Bio:
I've been writing songs for over a decade. My influences range from punk and alternative artists such as Nirvana, The Breeders, and Sonic Youth, to classic performers like Buddy Holly and Elvis Presley. I grew up listening to country-western and gospel music and started getting in to rock and roll when I was about 11 years old, starting with Kiss and Ozzy Osbourne. I have been in a few bands (Silver Man, Gutwrench, Scrape with a K) taken on some experimental projects (Satanspenpal, Hugh Manitee), and moved on to performing solo/acoustic for the last few years. I got my start at Kirby's Beer Store in Wichita, Kansas, opening for The Sprawl and Sleepeater. I have shared the stage with many different bands and artists, Electric Needle Room, The Terrible Airplane, Paper Owls, Joey Henry, Dylan Davis, Moreland & Arbuckle, The White Elephant, Matt Cox, Rademacher, and Why Make Clocks, only to name a few. I have released two demos (Scratches and American Boy) and a single (Island). Each were presented by my own label, Ferocious Hamster Records, which I founded in 2001. In March 2007 I moved from Wichita to Omaha where I met my wife, Cryssy. Together we write songs under the name, Spiders For Love. Recently I have played an average of at least three shows per month, including open-mics — some acoustic, some electric, sometimes a little of each. I am always writing new music and plan on recording something up to date in the next year, most likely with assistance from friends and local artists. There are also a few new projects in the works, which will remain nameless for now. |
