Jon Bare & the Killer Whales Bio: Jon Bare is a modern-day Renaissance man. Singer, songwriter, guitarist, producer, engineer, inventor, author and educator, Jon is the driving force behind the highly acclaimed KILLER WHALES and SHREDZILLA CD’s. His newest release, ORCASTRA, is his Sergeant Peppers. Jon is the founder and president of Mega Truth Records, and at age 21, arguably the youngest person ever to have taught a class in the Business School at USC. He is both a computer database expert and a major player on the L.A. music scene. His business clients include General Motors, Hughes Electronics and Raytheon Systems, yet he has graced the stages of most of the major clubs and festival events in Southern California. Jon has produced seven albums of his own music and has written a book / CD entitled “Recording The Electric Guitar,” published in July, 2001 by Music Maker Publications, the publishers of RECORDING magazine. Jon is a contributing writer for the magazine, having authored more than 50 articles on recording and various aspects of the music business. Jon’s albums have covered a range of styles as diverse as his interests, including original rock and blues, Hawaiian boogie-swing, pop... even techno. His latest CD, ORCASTRA is his biggest endeavor yet, with guitar, bass, drums, piano, organ, plenty of percussion, a full horn section, sitar, tabla, rain, thunder, squeaky doors and lots of other unusual sounds. The Killer Whales got their start back in 1993 with Tim Bogert (Jeff Beck, Vanilla Fudge) on bass and Chet McCracken (Doobie Brothers) on drums. The power trio’s debut CD, entitled simply KILLER WHALES gained them national recognition and considerable press. On the follow-up CD, SHREDZILLA by Jon Bare & The Killer Whales, James LoMenzo (Ozzy Osbourne, White Lion) takes over on bass. www.jonbare.net |
