Spred the Dub is a prime example of sincerity and originality in reggae, exploring the more experimental side of the genre through live dub performances. Spred the Dub consists of Micky Vintage, Iree Che, Johnny Fresh, Flint Blade and Boris Fingermon. Brought together by the love of music, these players have contributed their talent to the thriving South Florida music scene since early 2007.
Spred the Dub aims to provide audiences with the most authentic live reggae possible while shedding new light on dub, a form of "psychedelic reggae" which emerged in the late '60s. Iree Che provided the spark to ignite this project and he lights it up on percussion night after night with Spred the Dub. Locking it down on trap set is Johnny Fresh who applies years of experience and a jazz mentality to the reggae form. Flint Blade blurs the line between rhythm and lead, using the versatile Chapman Stick to drop thick basslines underneath lush, trippy sound effects. Also well-versed in dub effects is Boris Fingermon--he applies them intuitively to his sweet melodies and rootsy dead-picking riffs. Mickey Vintage puts his heart and soul into each performance as the voice and backbeat of Spred the Dub. Together these players gel into one of the freshest sounds in reggae today.
Spred the Dub's set list includes a host of well-crafted original songs which range from upbeat dancehall rhythms to thick, soul-moving roots jams. These originals sit well among unique renditions of modern classics and rejuvenated reggae standards.
