Now some background info... Recent Hi-Lites:

  • Jim's sing God Is Love spent time at #1 on the IndieHeaven.com Pop chart in April' 2008.
  • Jim's songs Supernatural Wonderful Thing and We Are The Church both reached #1 on the UnsignedBandweb.com Christian Rock charts in January, 2008.
  • Jim Yackel was nominated for two 2007 MOMENTUM Awards, sponsored by the Christian Independent Artists Summit. Jim was nominated in the Male Vocalist of the Year and Rock Artist of the Year categories.
Jim Yackel came to the cross and gave his life to the Lord Jesus Christ in 2000. Circa 2005, the Holy Spirit prompted him to become active again in music, which led to the 2007 release of his first Christian-Rock CD, titled AGAPE'. The influence of the Beatles can be heard in the melodies and chord changes, but the lyrics speak of Jesus, His free gift of salvation, and His soon return. Maranatha! The road Jim Yackel took to the cross was a long and winding one... Yackel began playing nightclubs on the "Thruway Circuit" in upstate New York in 1980. The bands and the personnel were in a perpetual state of flux; however Jim's Beatles influenced pop-rock writing style remained as his trademark. After years of pursuing the elusive recording contract, Yackel and his band Groovetown Fire Department independently released a CD in 1994. GFD did not last long after its lone recording venture, which prompted Yackel to go solo and release a cassette-only album titled "Petition" in 1996. In 1998, Jim Yackel retired from making music, believing that his exodus from music would be permanent. What he knows now and didn't know then was that the period away from music was but a temporary one. More accurately, Jim's "retirement" was a change of season and a time for restoration, which would lead him to being born again through Christ Jesus. Jesus gave him life everlasting and a new purpose in music making. Recommended if you like the music of:
  • The Beatles
  • Mercy Me
  • Cheap Trick
  • Elvis Costello
  • Supertramp

So Very Soon Originally, the plan was to have the CD "So Very Soon"--the follow-up to "Agape'"--released in January of 2009. It has been said that while man plans, God laughs, and in many instances that is true. Work on "So Very Soon" has resumed, and it appears that a release in the early summer of 2009 is realistic, praise the Lord. The delay in the completion of this album had been created by a lack of financial backing, but the funding is now being accumulated and I credit God and thank Him for His blessings and intervention. The album will have a strong End Times bent with the title track and songs such as Death Is Gone For Good, Even So, Come, and Israel. Two songs with crossover potential will be appearing as well. Those tracks are Ashley and Talking To An Angel. My updates will follow as we move forward! May the Lord's rich blessings be upon you, Jim

Early April 2009 So far, the year 2009 has not been plentiful for the ROCK Music Ministry of Jim Yackel. Recording sessions for the album So Very Soon have been all too frequently cancelled and for a variety of reasons--namely a lack of the financial backing that I thought would be present and sufficient. I originally planned to release So Very Soon during the fall of 2008. The release date was then pushed back to January 2009. Now, Lord willing, this CD will be released before summer 2009--nearly a full year later than originally scheduled. While I am frustrated and deeply disappointed by the slow progress where this CD project is concerned--I do not despair. Certainly, I have suffered a series of setbacks that began in earnest during the summer of 2008; however my faith in the Lord Jesus and his love for me has not wavered. I have been spiritually and emotionally beaten and bloodied during this time, but I'm back in the ring and fighting. This last 9 months has been a time of refinement by fire and despite the pain and frustration I am grateful for it. One of the scriptures that has been ever-present in my mind, heart, and soul during this time is Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. No one said it would be easy, but I am confidant that So Very Soon will be finished and released very soon. I am grateful for the support of my Christian brothers Erik Spencer, Mike Case, and Jimmy Cardinale. These fine men are blessings in themselves and I love them. During this time of walking through the desert, my capacity to love has deepened and my desire to reach people for the Lord is burning brightly. Lord, I thank you for this trip through the desert and I pray that I am almost to the promised land. I thank all of you who stop by and visit this profile page. I ask for your prayers as I pray for the Lord's rich blessings to be upon you.

News, Views, and Updates Greetings Everyone! I'd like to share with you what has been going on with the Rock Music Ministry of Jim Yackel in recent weeks. Tracks from my recently released CD Agapé have begun to get radio airplay in various places around the world. I pray that the list of stations that are picking up the CD will grow. The songs We Are The Church, Tears of Joy, and Supernatural Wonderful Thing have each individually spent time at #1 in recent weeks on the UnsignedBandweb.com Christian Rock charts. Having songs reach number one on any chart is blessing for a recording artist, and for those number ones I thank the Lord! I'd like to personally thank all of you who have purchased copies of the CD Agapé. Currently, I have enough material for two more albums and the Lord continues to bless me with even more songs. Some videos for Agapé songs have to get produced, and then I will begin work on the next album. I invite you to visit my website at http://www.jimyackel.com/music.htm. There, you can check out some of my music and purchase copies of Agapé. You will also find links to purchase individual MP3 downloads of the songs--and much more. I Hope you drop by! God Bless You--Jim

Rolling Wheels I give thanks to the Lord every day. I offer up thanks for the ability that I have to make music for Him. What a blessing and joy it is to be able to lead worship for Him. Such a blessing and a joy that I can write songs that worship Him and evangelize on His behalf. I have been charged to be an evangelist. I know that this is my calling. You may have never heard of Jim Yackel and that is fine--as those that need to hear of me will. You may not like my music and that is fine as well--as those who will need to like it will like it. While the Rock Music Ministry of Jim Yackel http://www.jimyackel.com/music.htm promotional wheels are always turning, I have gained enough wisdom and discernment to know that those wheels will roll only as far as God wills them to. Rolling wheels against God's will is tantamount to rolling wheels up (not down) a steep hill. All those years spent playing secular music in smoke-filled nightclubs permeated with the malodorousness of stale beer, cheap pefume, broken promises and shattered dreams, were training for the work of this evangelist. How often did I see Satan seated at the bar with a self-satisfied grin on his face? Those years were the apprenticeship by fire. Now, to make music with Jesus as the theme is to make glorious music indeed! Hallelujah! Yes, the wheels are continuing to roll, praise God. My first Christian-Rock CD Agape' was released in October of 2007. I have written enough material for the next two albums, and God willing, those records will get recorded and released. Videos to accompany the Agape' songs are finally in the works. Father God, I pray that you will let these wheels keep rolling. Please let them roll farther and faster. Please let them roll through rain, snow, sleet, hail, icy cold and infernal heat. Please let this music you have given me reach hearts all over the world. Use me to warn them. Use me to help them reach a worshipful place. Help me to always reach that worshipful place before you. Use me to proclaim your name through song. I ask this in the most glorious name of Jesus. Amen.
