Wigglepussy, Indiana Bio: Modern Pop Music’s Evil Twin For three years Wigglepussy, Indiana has performed theatrical shows & events at venues both in our hometown of Columbus, Ohio and throughout the state to a growing and dedicated fan base. We’re now working to expand into the markets that have shown considerable support to us during a successful Tinderbox Music aided national radio campaign by launching regional and national tours through those cities. Our latest album was rated by CMJ as the 9th most added album in the country on December 9th, 2003 and we don’t want to lose that momentum. Simultaneously we are currently in talks with a variety of industry members around the country seeking aid with national press, distribution, tour support, film & TV licensing, opportunities overseas and general label support. We believe there are plenty of people out there who are seeking something honest & new, and that defies current trends in commercial music, and thus far we’ve been proven right. Influences include (in no particular order) Nick Cave, Ween, NIN, Fantomas, Medeski Martin & Wood, The Mars Volta, Mr. Bungle, Tom Waits, Primus, Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Beck, King Crimson, David Bowie, John Zorn, Black Sabbath, Soul Coughing, Angelo Badalamenti, Beck, Jeff Buckley, The Mahavishnu Orchestra, Jethro Tull, Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, Self, Frank Zappa, Massive Attack, Portishead, Leon Redbone, Tool, Gogol Bordello, Tenacious D, The Pogues, Barry Adamson, Bjork, RL Burnside and many others. The members of the band come from separate states around the United States, but somehow ended up together in a basement at the start of 2001 and started scribbling on the walls. They are: Jason Schurtz :: drums Lawrence Desilets :: keyboards, vocals Bill Jordan :: vocals Scott Lambridis :: bass Here’s what others have said: “Equal parts Prince and King Crimson, with a touch of Nick Cave drama thrown in…pastoral space rock and menacing art funk…” -Rick Allen, The Other Paper “Wigglepussy takes a decidedly disjointed sound and dresses it up in everything from Boston area weird rock to modernized orchestral glam. The band is definitely as original as its name.” -Ryan Horns, Columbus Alive “A keen sense of histrionic melodrama and a touch of pop that makes some of the oddest time-changes and instrumentation seem melodiously amiable. If you think Primus is ‘too metal’ and Ween isn’t catchy enough, Life at the Gallows could well become your favorite disc.” -Brian O’Neill, The Other Paper |
