No Dawn Bio: No Dawn hails from Steinkjer, Norway. The music can be described as melodic thrash/death-metal. From a wide source of inspiration within the band, a somewhat unique sound has emerged. It all started in the summer of 2002, when Steinar, Ludvik and “Kaki” began to jam just for fun. After countless hours of pointless jamming, early 2003 the search for a drummer started. After trying numerous drummers out, “Polly” (a locally known drummer) agreed to join the band. However, at the very first rehearsal, “Polly” introduced Cato (Allfader) as the drummer instead, because he was to take the role as singer. Now, the first full line-up was a fact. No Dawn started out as a cover-band, playing songs of In Flames and At the Gates. The first gig in summer of 2003 contained cover-songs of these bands. Still, it didn’t take long before self-written material came to life. When a few months had passed, “Polly” left the band due to lack of spare time. Replacement singer was quickly found when Tor Erik auditioned. The line-up was again complete, and the band continued to make new songs. In November 2003, “Kaki” decided to quit the band. Immediately Tor Egil took his place as guitarist. This line-up existed until the end of February 2004, when drummer Cato had to leave the band due to personal reasons. Good drummers are hard to come by in the area, and so the band was reluctantly forced to a halt. In June 2004 Kent, who was the drummer in a band “Kaki” had joined after he left No Dawn, replaced Cato behind the drum-kit. Once again, with a complete line-up, new songs were made. Finally, in September / October 2004, the band recorded the first demo, which was done in a home studio. |
