Mlini Bio: ABOUT OPEN ROAD. The age old story of a man's urge to ditch all his responsibilities in one selfishly adolescent escape fantasy. He's read too much Kerouac, and has just been told one time too many. Snap. Like Jack White with Spector (and his pistol) at the helm in a very deep well. CURRENT PRESS “[Open Road] could well be one of my all time favourites” - The Mag. “I do love this London four-piece” – Rock Pulse “Mlini have managed to cram more atmosphere onto their 8 tracks.. than a lot of bands can muster..like it was recorded under a railway arch and played through practice amps” – Tasty Fanzine “Strident camp-fire rock” – God Is In The TV ABOUT THE BAND With a fondness for vintage valve amps, analogue delays and organic sounds, Mlini create songs with the raw and ragged edges of Low and Neil Young, quirkiness of Pavement and the fine production of Sparklehorse. Influences: Neil Young / Scott Walker / Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds / Wilco/ Radiohead / Low / Grandaddy / Sparklehorse / Arcade Fire / Pixies / The Black Keys. Mlini are: Tim Despic, Steve Carter and Ben Hamster (South London). Tim on Ben: “a cross between Jarvis Cocker and Michael Crawford”. Ben on Tim: “the best amateur magician in rock today”. Steve on Tim: “his fluctuating facial hair is the talk of indie venues and biker bars alike.” Tim on Steve: “a walking reason why 10-year-olds shouldn’t be allowed to hang out on New York’s lower East side”. |
