Brian Campbell Bio:
Originally from Pennsylvania, I moved to Nashville, TN in 1993 with just my guitar and clothes on my back. I immediately started playing music as a solo act at the "Wagon Burner" on Lower Broadway. Soon after, I was offered a gig playing lead guitar for a band at "World Famous Tootsies" where we played for several years and we were invited to open for the legendary Johnny Rodriguez. Johnny and I became good friends and he was always like a brother to me and encouraged me.
I continued playing on Lower Broadway as a solo act, playing lead guitar and then started my own trio. I would play anything from the 50's - 80's rock and old country. I had the pleasure of playing guitar behind several hit songwriters, well-known country music artists like Razzy Bailey, Del Reeves and played with some of the best musicians in the world.
Personally, I do not like the direction Nashville has taken country music. I wish Nashville would finally get back to the song. Nashville traded the best (music that built Nashville) just to give us girls/guys coming out on stage looking scruffy, dirty ball-caps turned backwards, and then redundant songs about a pickup truck stomping through the mud, etc. Then at the end of the year....they get an award (Please!!!). I miss hearing songs with good melodies, lyrics and heartfelt emotion. I stopped listening to country radio almost twenty years ago because of all the "pop" bubble-gum stuff Nashville/Music Row was dishing out and continues to dish out. I'm still lost in Johnny Horton, Jim Reeves, Faron Young, etc. |
